Independent candidates and traditional associations in the municipal politics of rural municipalities - the influence of urban proximity and migration?
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The presentation deals with the official participation of traditional associations in the municipal politics of rural municipalities in Czechia and with an attempt at international comparison. The electoral success of associations such as voluntary fire brigades is monitored in comparison with the whole group of independent candidates and their associations, according to the results of the last few municipal elections in Czechia. It also seeks to find possible influencing factors in the form of settlement structure and location - e.g. distance from cities, lower gross migration rates, etc. The results are also partially compared with neighbouring Slovakia. In addition to simple methods of thematic cartography, the method of spatial autocorrelation analysis is used. The paper is a continuation of the author's previous research within his dissertation thesis and also the Atlas of rural development, created in cooperation with the University of Ostrava, and ongoing research within the Student Grant Competition (SGS) project of the University of West Bohemia No. SGS-2019-007 ("The position of firms within the global production network and its effect on regional development and voters´ political attitudes").
