Le chapitre est consacré à la première réception du théâtre de l’absurde français dans le milieu tchèque. Dû à la situation politique dans la Tchécoslovaquie de l’époque, les pièces Samuel Beckett, Eugène Ionesco, Arthur Adamov, Jean Genet et Fernando Arrabal sont introduites dans le milieu tchèque qu’avec un certain retard, au tournant des années 50 et 60 du 20e siècle, aussi bien en traductions publiées qu’en créations scéniques. Le milieu tchèque découvre ainsi l’essentiel du théâtre de l’absurde français en l’espace de quelques années ; l’article propose un résumé de sa réception tchèque dans le courant des années 1960.

The chapter is focused on the first reception of the French theater of the absurd in the Czech milieu. Due to the political situation in Czechoslovakia at that time, the plays of Samuel Beckett, Eugene Ionesco, Arthur Adamov, Jean Genet and Fernando Arrabal were introduced into the Czech milieu only with some delay, at the turn of the 50s and 60s of the 20th century, both in published translations and in stage productions. The Czech milieu thus discovered the essence of the French theater of the absurd in the space of a few years; the article offers a summary of its Czech reception in the 1960s.
