L’uso della canzone nella classe di italiano LS si è dimostrato molto efficace per lavorare su diversi input linguistici. Ai livelli più alti, quando è necessario sviluppare una competenza anche sulle differenze sociolinguistiche, la vasta produzione musicale in dialetto o in lingue regionali fornisce un repertorio smisurato da cui attingere. Non è però sempre facile adeguare alla didattica una canzone in queste varietà, sia per la struttura e il contenuto dei testi che per l’enorme distanza linguistica verso l’italiano standard. La scelta del romanesco e della canzone Tanto pe’ cantà di Ettore Petrolini riduce queste difficoltà: fornendo una tabella con le corrispondenze fonetiche e morfologiche con l’italiano, il romanesco può risultare comprensibile anche a studenti stranieri e inoltre la struttura regolare del brano permette di lavorare facilmente su diversi compiti. L’attività di ascolto proposta, basandosi sui principi del puzzle linguistico, spinge gli studenti a partecipare attivamente alla ricostruzione del testo attraverso la collaborazione in gruppo e la riflessione consapevole sulle strutture di una variante substandard dell’italiano.

The use of the song in a class of Italian as foreign language has proved to be very effective for working on different linguistic inputs. At the highest levels, when it is necessary to develop a competence even on sociolinguistic differences, the vast musical production in dialect or regional languages provides an immeasurable repertoire from which to draw. However, it is not always easy to adapt a song in these varieties to a didactic lesson, both for the structure and content of the lyrics and for enormous linguistic distance towards standard Italian. The choice of the Roman dialect and of the song Tanto pe’ cantà by Ettore Petrolini reduces these difficulties: providing a table with the phonetic and morphological correspondences with Italian, the Roman dialect can be understood also by foreign students and furthermore the regular structure of the song allows to work easily on different tasks. The listening activity proposed, based on the principles of the linguistic puzzle, encourages students to participate actively in the reconstruction of the text through group collaboration and with a conscious reflection on the structures of a substandard variant of Italian language.
