This paper reflects the importance of theology studies and theological ethics in higher education in the field of social work. The article clarifies the essence of theology and theological ethics in their substantiality and transformation. It particularly emphasizes the post-conciliar form of these sciences, especially theological ethics and its accents. These include the emphasis on personal responsibility (conditioned by the ability to distinguish and to make a decision, that is, to acquire wisdom and providence). In these accents (besides other benefits, e.g. a complex view of reality) one can see the current importance of theology studies, respectively the importance of theological ethics in higher education (specifically for social work and the quality of its practice).
