Der Beitrag versucht den Titel des Bandes Deutsch ohne Grenzen als eine Erweiterung des Adjektivs 'deutsch' zu verstehen und untersucht Beispielstexte der gegenwärtigen deutschen Literatur und einen gegenwärtigen tschechischen Roman, in denen das 'Deutsch-Sein' als ungenügend festgestellt und die Grenzen des "Deutschen" als beweglich gezeigt werden. Die Protagonisten erweitern ihr Verstehen von "deutsch" und, indem sie als Mitglieder der Enkelgeneration ihrer Familiengeschichte nachgehen, überschreitensie die Grenzen zwischen Epochen, Territorien und Kulturen und definieren zugleich eine aktuelle Form des traditionellen Familienromans.

The article tries to understand the title Deutsch ohne Grenzen as an extension of the adjective 'deutsch' and analyses sample texts of contemporary German literature and a contemporary Czech novel, in which 'German' is found as insufficient and the limits of the 'German' are shown as movable. The protagonists expand their understanding of 'German' and they cross the boundaries between eras, territories and cultures by completing of their family history as members of the grandchildren's generation. Thesewriters also define a new form of the traditional family romance.
