Simulation of the development of core/periphery structures in networks
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Creating new links in the social network facilitates the exchange of knowledge and affects the positional advantage. Nodes with a large number of links can usually affect the operation of the entire network. An example of such a network is a network with a core/periphery structure. It consists of main nodes that are densely interconnected and less interconnected peripheral nodes. Unlike the community structure, which is a different structure of meso-scale networks, core nodes can be connected to peripheral nodes and peripheral nodes are not densely interconnected. In this article we deal with the development of a network with a core/periphery structure. We model the conditions for the formation of such a network. In doing so, we examine important and interrelated topics in the theory of complex networks: the core/periphery structures in the network, network development and the integration of new nodes. To do this, we use the apparatus of game theory on networks. We present the results of simulations that may help to answer various questions from the economic or social field, which relate to the creation of cores or peripherals in network systems.
