Efficient decision making can be understood as a process encouraging achievement of required goals at optimal expenditure of available resources. Within current organizations, however, the decision making does not naturally have to follow the pattern mentioned above, and that is due to a whole lot of factors that affect negatively the efficiency of decision making process. This article focuses on exploring the most frequent obstacles to efficient decision making within the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic. Among the major obstacles to the effective decision making within the Ministry of Defence there is a lack of time and information needed for solving a decision making problem, unclear assignment or problematic cooperation with other departments participating in the problem solving.
