The paper deals with the education and development system of managers (commanders) in both the Austrian Armed Forces and the Lithuanian Armed Forces. It analyzes the current state, followed by a comparison of education and development of military managers (commanders) in Austria and Lithuania. The first part of the paper briefly describes the structure of officers education, study programs at Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt and National Defence Academy in Vienna and courses related to theeducation and development system of managers (commanders) offered within the Austrian Armed Forces. Another section is devoted to the system of education and development within the Lithuanian Armed Forces at General Jonas Žemaitis Lithuanian Military Academy in Vilnius and to other officers courses related to this area.
