The main purpose of the article is based on the theoretical background characterized the main methods of career planning and their association with concept of succession. It was carried out literature review of Czech and foreign authors focused on careerplanning and career planning methods. It was used method compilation and comparison of authors and method of deduction. Changes in society require new knowledge, skills and professions change. Human resources are becoming a solid foundation of every company. That?s mean every employee should be responsible for his career. The company should "only" show the way and support employees. It is necessary adapt the career planning process to these facts. There are several methods of career planning and each has its advantages and limits. Each of them is applicable to other type of company with regard to organizational structure, career progression and corporate business culture.
