The book was edited by Prof. Alexander Thomas of Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule, Regensburg. The chapter deals with historical background of activities of the EFPA Task Force for Cultural and Ethnic Diversity that lead to efforts of task force members and to the publication of the book. The chapter discusses the aims of the task force and describe how and to what degree they were met.
