ANALYSIS OF THE HELPMAN-KRUGMAN MODEL USING THE EXAMPLE OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE BETWEEN THE CZECH REPUBLIC AND GERMAN
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Economies of scale became the basis of the Helpman-Krugman model of international trade. These occur when the growth in the volume of production of a company or an industry leads to slower growth in total costs. In the long-term, the Federal Republic of Germany has been the most important business partner for the Czech Republic. It has almost a 30% share of the total foreign trade turnover in the Czechia. However, a portion of the goods is re-exported via Hamburg and other German ports to third countries. German companies are also easily the largest investors. Since 1993, they invested over CZK 600 billion in the Czechia. Four thousand German companies are active in the country, and the largest of them alone create approximately 150 thousand jobs. The aim of this paper is to express, using the Helpman-Krugman model of foreign trade, the increase in production volume and the number of companies (as well as the decrease in prices and average costs of companies) in both countries caused by the increase
