The European Green Deal and the US Resolution to create a Green New Deal - A Comparative doctrinal analysis

This paper presents a comparative doctrinal analysis of the European Green Deal, i.e. the Communication from the Commission to the European Parliament, the European Council, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions, and the US resolution to create a Green New Deal, i.e. the resolution of the Federal House of Representatives No 109, recognizing the duty of the Federal Government to create a Green New Deal. The purpose is to compare the discursive strategies employed in both legislative documents and to elucidate the respective linguistic forms as embodiments of comparative contextdependent discursive practices. The discursive strategies herein examined include nomination, predication, and argumentation. The results include the identification of similarities between the two central legal documents as well as differences in the used linguistic practices. The identified nominative and predicative discursive strategies include those which are seemingly neutral as well as
