The aim of this study was to determine the effect of semen extenders on the boar semen storage potential, in terms of the ability to maintain sperm motility. In boars with extreme lean meat percentage and lower boar taint intensity, the semen quality declines. Extenders serve for dose volume increase and preserve semen in liquid form for short- or long-term storage. In the present study, two different commercial extenders type (BTS - Kiev, VIP - Androhep) devised for preservation of semen stored at 17°Cfor 0, 24, 48, 72 and 96 h from four mature and fertile boars, were used. After storage, sperm motility parameters were evaluated during 1, 3 and 5 h long incubation at 38°C. In total 120 examples of semen were evaluated. Semen samples were divided into4 groups according to initial quality ? concentration (C1 < 4 9 105/mm3; C2 > 4 9 105/mm3) and motility (M1 < 75%; M2 > 75%). In all samples, percentage of total motile spermatozoa decreased with storage length and duration of incubation
