Prooxidative effect of bisphenol S on porcine oocytes meiotic maturation
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Many substances introduced to the environment exert endocrine disrupting effects and negatively affect human and animal reproduction. Plasticizers bisphenols belongs to a group of the most studied endocrine disruptors. However, the effects of bisphenol S on reproduction is not well characterized. It is known that some endocrine disruptors can induce in cells oxidative stress. The aim of our study was to test the hypothesis that BPS induces oxidative stress through ROS production in porcine oocytes during their meiotic maturation. Maturing oocytes were cultured in the presence of 300 nM and 30 uM of BPS, and levels of ROS in oocytes after 24 and 48 hours of cultivation were evaluated. Both concentration of BPS statistically significantly increased ROS production after cultivation. The experiments confirmed that BPS influences ROS production and induces oxidative stress during porcine oocytes meiotic maturation
