Effects of horse age and the number of riders on equine competitive performance
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This paper focuses on interspecies communication between rider and the show-jumping horse based on the individual difference of riding style. This is expressed by the number of riders in the saddle of a horse during his career. Its primary goal was to discover the consequences of the possible differences in horse performance depending on the number of riders who took turns in the saddle of a particular horse. The secondary goal of this study was to identify the age at which a competitive jumping horse reaches its maximum competitive performance. The study used 277 198 results of jumping competitions from 3 097 horses. Horses were compared depending on whether they were ridden by one to two riders, three to four riders, and five or more riders over the course of their careers. The results showed that among most horse groups their peak performance, represented by the highest level of competition difficulty, was achieved in their age of ten years. In all groups of horses, divided according to their
