Abrasive Wear Resistance of Wood
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Wood is a natural material, utilized by mankind already during several millenniums. It has specific physical, chemical, mechanical, technological and other properties, which are different from properties of other util-ized materials. Unlike other used utilized materials, wood is a renewable material and present it is relatively extensively utilized. Its use in building industry and in cellulosic-paper industry is generally known. For some applications, e.g. for floors and staircases, the abrasive wear resistance of wood is very important. In this contribution the results of the wear resistance study of 12 types of wood commonly growing in the Czech Republic (ash, birch, cherry, larch, lime, locust, maple, oak, pine, poplar, spruce and walnut) are published. The laboratory tests were carried out using the pin-on-disc machine where the abrasive clothes of three dif-ferent grits (240, 120 and 60) were used. The wear intensity was assessed by the volume, weight and length losses of tested
