It situates the efforts of Ostrava artists to create the concept of the "Ostrava artist", who would occupy a specific position on the contemporary scene, within historical contexts such as the ethos and habitus of the so-called second culture of Czecholovak state socialism, as well as the discussions of the 1990s about postmodernism, and the relevance of regional differentiation in the operation of con-temporary Czech art.
