Methandienone, 17beta-hydroxy-17alfa-methylandrosta-1,4-dien-3-one, also known as DianabolTM is a synthetic exogenous steroid derived from testosterone. The aim of this work was to develop two formats of immunochromatographic test for the detection of anabolic steroid methandienone in nutritional supplements based on methandienone haptens which were conjugated in position C3 and C17 of steroid skeleton. Suitable conditions (concentration of immunoreagents, type of membrane and reaction buffer) were selected, six points calibration curves were prepared and visual detection limits were obtained (1 mýg/mL and 5 mýg/mL for MD-3-CMO-OVA and for the MD-17-HS-OVA system, respectively). In real samples of food supplements, both systems successful detected methandienone and the similar steroid.
