The ILSI Europe Early Career Scientists (ECS) Event is a unique platform for young professionals to showcase their research, build valuable connections, and deepen their understanding of critical topics in food safety. It also provides an exceptional opportunity for industry leaders and academic experts to explore emerging talent and gain fresh perspectives on cutting-edge research in this vital field.The 2025 edition, dedicated to food safety, took place at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague under the patronage of the European Parliament, in collaboration with the communication partner FoodFakty.The programme was organized into four thematic sessions, complemented by a live case study and a panel discussion. Key topics included emerging contaminants in food and the environment, new approach methodologies in risk assessment, the safety and sustainability of alternative proteins, and hidden risks associated with allergens and flavourings. Each session was opened with a keynote lecture by an established scientist, followed by oral presentations from selected ECS participants. In 2025, the symposium hosted 80 participants, 18 speakers from 9 countries, more than 50 abstract submissions, demonstrating strong international interest in advancing research on emerging food safety challenges, innovative risk assessment approaches, and the safety of future food systems.
