The experimental study of oscillation dynamics of free vortex surface in the uncovered unbaffled stirred vessel
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
In chemical, biochemical and food processes, apparatuses for mixing are frequently used, among which there are mechanically stirred unbaffled tank reactors. Often, a batch used in these apparatuses exhibits increased viscosity in comparison with water. Knowledge of oscillation characteristics is essential for the right determination of resonances of the system. The oscillation characteristic could be observed as a free vortex surface resonance which creates several oscillation waves. The case of small amount of oscillation waves with the high amplitude can result into the hazardous situations. The oscillation characteristics such as natural oscillation frequencies are dependent on several input parameters. Commonly used equations for natural oscillation frequency estimation does not reflect the effect of increased viscosity. However, a viscous batch exhibits specific behavior during mixing. These specifics have not been examined enough yet. In this work, original experimental data and results for natural oscillation frequencies in water and viscous batch are presented. Natural oscillation frequencies were measured on a laboratory vessel with the diameter of 0.49 m. Natural frequencies were measured by collecting velocity time series with Pitot tube system for various types of impeller configurations, various impeller speed and two kinds of the batch. Describing and prediction of the sloshing behavior during a variety of mixing processes could lead to the more precise industrial design and a better understanding of mixing in unbaffled vessel overall.
