A basis of olfactronics is a detailed instrumental analysis of scents. The crucial step of any scent analysis is acollection of the scent samples. A usual technique of sampling, if conducted carelessly, can lead to thecontamination of the crime scene or the destruction of evidence. The way to reduce or even eliminate such aninfluence is the contactless sampling of the scent evidence. Thus, a special device for the contactless scentcollection of scent samples has been developed.The development of the device for the contactless collection of human scent samples is based on a commercialvacuum cleaner. All the additional parts are made of polylactic acid filaments by means of a 3D printer.There are a number of selected parameters of sampling with the device that have been tested: the number ofsorbent layers, the volume flow of air passing through the sorbent, and the distance from the sample surface.The effect of the thermal excitation of the molecules by infrared radiation was also tested.In order to find out the optimal parameters of the contactless sampling, the results of the measurement of thescent samples were assessed based on the recovery of three selected chemical compounds from differentgroups of organic compounds.
