The Use of Case Management in Social Work Practised in Municipalities with the Target Group of Homeless People

  • Popis výsledku v původním jazyce

OBJECTIVES: This study explores the views of municipality social workers on the potential and implementation of case management in addressing homelessness. The goal is to determine their opinions on its applicability and to identify opportunities for cooperation between cooperating organizations. THEORETICAL BASE: Data analysis used interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA). METHODS: A qualitative research strategy, semi-structured interviews, was used. The target population was social workers in the municipalities of the Hradec Králové region working with homeless people. Our research included 14 social workers meeting specific criteria. Thematic areas included implementation of case management, perception of both barriers and positive aspects. OUTCOMES: Within the analysis, seven key factors influencing the implementation of case management were identified: the role of the case manager, the case management process, individual approach to the client, the role of the homeless, case work, the cooperation of interested parties, and the management tools used. Effective homelessness case management relies on stakeholder collaboration, client involvement and individualized approaches. Challenges include legislative uncertainties and capacity issues. SOCIAL WORK IMPLICATIONS: Legislative changes are recommended to clarify the role and responsibilities of case management in social work to facilitate effective interventions for homeless people.
