The paper captures the life story of two Kraus generations in Ostrava. Josef Kraus, an immigrant from Western Bohemia, used the industrialization of the Ostrava region as a building contractor to gain considerable property and also social prestige. His son Karel, a graduate in law with the academic degree JUDr., administered the inherited estate, but didn?t continue in his father?s business activity. He was involved in municipal politics and in the activity of German associations on behalf of the Germannationalist base.
