Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Distance education has traditionally focused on students in remote regions. It has also established in higher education providing opportunity for full-time workers to enrol university courses. The main objective of this study is to illustrate and assess distance education from the secondary and tertiary school teachers' perspective. It focuses on the means, technical possibilities and teachers' abilities to adjust to the new conditions they are forced to face from their homes that provide limited technical and teaching resources. The study was conducted at Secondary and Tertiary School for Medical Staff in Olomouc, the Czech Republic involving 64 teachers of both general and technical (medical) subjects employed full-time, who were required to fill in a questionnaire eliciting information regarding the current forms of distance learning and ICT or online tools implemented. Furthermore, it focused on teachers' technical skills and capabilities to facilitate distance learning and the ways of assessment and feedback provided to secondary and tertiary students. Data obtained from this study were processed and discovered that majority of teachers involved in the study were unprepared for such a form of education stating very little knowledge of the online tools available. Moreover, the study revealed that the school does not have any unitary scenario regarding distance education. As a result, most respondents use predominantly email communication and free resources available online.
