Research in the field of natural building materials has at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of VŠB Technical University of Ostrava long tradition. Research focused on natural building materials is devoted to a number of researchers from various departments. Research is funded by a variety of scientific and educational projects, and in some projects are also involved students of master's and doctoral programs. Students are in cooperation with pedagogues directly involved in research and dissemination of research results. The aim is not only the research itself, but also the utilization of research results in teaching of technical subjects. The results of some research projects also serve as a basis for innovation of existing and creating new technical subjects. This article briefly describes the most important research projects focused on research of natural building materials handled at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of VŠB Technical University of Ostrava. This article also describes how are research results used in teaching and in innovation of existing and creation of new technical subjects.
