The issue of parking is a current topic that today affects the daily lives of residents in towns. To understand the current issues, it is necessary to look back at the history and determine the current cause of the problem. At the same time, it is necessary to be aware of the specific problems of each locality, whereas each locality is different. For comparison of the issue of parking, we selected localities in Ostrava, in the dis- trict of Výškovice. We compared the state of this area with the historical standards regarding parking and with current standards and the current trend. The results were evaluated and it was interesting to learn that if the parking spaces had been executed according to the standards as they should have been in their time, then the current problems with parking in housing estates would not be as extensive as they are today.
