    The requirement of demand satisfaction for housing relating with the development of the city of Ostrava began in the 1950s the stage of massive production of housing construction. The construction also included transport constructions in the form of local roads and parking areas intended for residents of new apartment buildings and supply. Following the degree of motorization of the time, the roads under construction and areas for parking vehicles were designed comfortably. However, with regard to today&apos;s requirements and the progression of motorization, they are already insufficient today and it is necessary to deal intensively with this issue. The issue of transport organization within housing estates is specific and offers many possibilities to solve it. In order for these options to be effective and realistic, it is necessary to emphasize the maximum use of the existing traffic space, including the road width arrangement, the use of the space for the major mode of transport and the finance. Effective use of existing roads, especially for the needs of static traffic while providing comfortable serviceability of housing estates, is a prerequisite for a successful solution of transport organization. From the point of view of transport engineering and construction, a suitable solution for transport organization can ensure sufficient parking spaces within housing estates, fluent transit of above-standard vehicles and at the same time not disturb public space by building new large parking areas at the expense of greenery and public spaces serving other purposes. The article deals with specific localities of the Ostrava - South city district.
