Adaptive Time Step and Solver for Discrete Element Method - Beam Bond Model

  • Popis výsledku v původním jazyce

This contribution presents an adaptive framework for time-stepping and solver selection in Discrete Element Method simulations with beam-bond models (DEM-BBM). The method dynamically adjusts the time step according to the system state and switches between direct and iterative solvers to balance stability, accuracy, and computational cost. This is particularly advantageous in fracture simulations, where the mechanical response changes rapidly. The proposed strategy increases robustness and improves overall efficiency in DEM-BBM analyses involving progressive structural degradation.
