The paper deals with the control of an AC drive with a low voltage permanent magnet synchronous motor fed by voltage inverter. The control method is based on the sensorless control, in which the mechanical quantity measurement is replaced by a computational block realized by the digital signal processor with high computing performance. The rotor position and rotor speed is calculated from the electric quantities. The paper is aimed to the method which is based on the mathematical model of the machine. The most important contribution is experimental results from implementation of the sensorless method into DSP control system. The experiments were realized with permanent magnet synchronous motor which was supplied by voltage inverter with low voltage. Inconclusion, the experimental results are presented which were obtained by measurement on a laboratory stand with the AC drive and on a small city car.
