Landscape Changes in the Selected Area Post Mining Activities - Mariánské Hory, Slezská and Moravská Ostrava

Ostrava, which is situated in the north-east of the Czech Republic, belongs among the worst affected European regions, with regard to landscape and environmental changes, and thus it is suitable for the research. The objective of the study is to expand on the knowledge of landscape element changes in prominent mining areas that represent, in terms of interference with the environment, one of the worst affected types of landscape. It deals with the results of analyses of landscape elements changes in theselected area of Slezská, Moravská Ostrava, Mariánské Hory affected by former mining activities. This old mining area represents a partial interest area out of total nine planned areas (1a,1b,1c,2a,2b,2c,3a,3b,3c). This model area No.2b is defined by three aerial photos from 1946 (629, 631, 632) and extends into four map sheets in the 1:10 000 scale (the map sheets numbers are as follows: 15-43-09, 15-43-10, 15-43-14, 15-43-15).
