    The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility of obtaining iron from iron ore that came from the deposits Hoa - Phát. First of all, the material was subjected to a sieve analysis, according to which it was concluded that it was probably a product of a milling process. Subsequently, the individually obtained grain products were analysed for Fe content using the AAS method. Mineralogical analysis using X-ray diffraction was also conducted; the results refuted the presence of magnetite, which was supposed to be a major component of the examined sample. Due to the presence of minerals containing iron, after consideration of further processing of the raw material, laboratory tests indicative of magnetic separation were conducted using the inductive disc separator UVR. The result was a high transfer efficiency of the paramagnetic minerals into the magnetic product at very low intensities of the magnetic field. The acquired metal content is almost identical to the calculated theoretical metal content of the minerals present. Therefore, the question is whether the examined material is in fact a non-magnetic portion after the separation of magnetite.
