The workshop offered faculty that teach undergraduate students in technical disciplines three scaffolded workshops on why teaching writing matters, key aspects of understanding writing and learning to write, best practices for assignment design and assessment, and how to effectively support writers' processes through feedback and revision. The three teaching workshops were highly interactive; faculty had the chance to discuss the material, reflect on their own teaching, and create course materials that they can directly use in their classrooms in our workshops. The goal of the workshops was to give faculty enough information and background to be able to create and support writing in their disciplines and move forward with teaching writing with confidence. We also included a discussion of the challenges and possibilities in teaching in an age of ChatGPT and other AI-generated text.
