The paper deals with issues connected with the investigation of Fe-C based metallic systems by DTA method. There are many experimental factors that can influence resulting experimental data. Influence of heating (cooling) rate must be considered, samplemass also, sensors and crucibles used by experiment alone, etc. There are general suggestions how to perform experiments with metallic materials to obtain the desired data. But, in many cases it is necessary to modify the experimental conditions with respect to the obtaining of needed data - corresponding data. The problems that can be encountered by investigation of metals with carbon content are also decarburisation and oxidation. The paper presents results of experimental measurements performed usingDTA method and experimental laboratory system Setaram SETSYS 18TM with respect to the possible decarburisation of studied alloys in low and high temperature region.
