The author describes the most serious cultural impacts of globalization - raising of unequal social and economic development of regions resulting from the fact that companies, individuals and through them also cities, regions and states have different conditions and abilities to join the economic development (in compliance with the global market requirements. Especially in big cities these requirements causes a very differential development. He refers to the theory by R. Florida about a creative class that is becoming an important factor stimulating cities and regions' development. From the theory it follows that 'good environment for people' attracts creative workers and thus it stimulates economic development of territorial units. In that context theauthor asks the question whether Ostrava agglomeration has got enough opportunities not only for maintaining its creative class but also for recruiting new creative workers.
