The paper has arisen as a part of the research project dealing with the questions of measuring of wage determinants and wage discrimination on the basis of different subjective requirements of men and women on their wages. Using the probit model, it analyses wage determination and gender wage discrimination. The analysis is methodologically based on the Mincer?s Wage Regression and the Oaxaca-Blinder Decomposition of gender wage differential. The wage function includes, besides standard personal characteristics, dummies for institutional and firm characteristics and dummies for family status and for role in a family. The data were gained from questionnaire survey carried out in Ostrava city. The results of the analysis show that there exist statistically significant differences in determination of men?s and women?s wages. The main conclusions of the survey are that (1) the role in a family is an important wage determinant and its inclusion into the Mincer?s Wage Regression leads to bet
