Diagnostic accuracy of lymphoscintigraphy and radioguided sentinel lymph node biopsy in patients with malignant melanoma.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Aim: The incidence of false negative sentinel lymph node (SLN) is less than 2% in case of a direct comparison of SLN status with histological findings in the remaining lymph nodes in the lymphatic basin. However, the published data show that the incidence of lymphatic metastases in the adjacent lymphatic basins detected during a subsequent clinical follow-up in patients with negative SLN biopsy (SLNB) varies in patients with malignant melanoma (MM) from 4% to 27%. The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of SLNB in MM. Methods: 167 consecutive patients with MM underwent lymphoscintigraphy and radioguided SLNB and subsequently were followed at the Dept. of Oncology. 2 patients were excluded from the study due to the local recurrences of MM with secondary lymph node metastases, therefore a total of 165 patients were studied. Localization of MMs: 90 trunk, 65 extremities, 10 head and neck. TNM staging: 48 pT1, 65 pT2, 31 pT3, 17 pT4, 4 pTiS. The mean follow-up time re
