Systemic effect of asthma bronchiale on expression of multidrug resistance protein 1 in peripheral blood lymphocytes amongst children
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
It is influenced by the activity of the immune system and transports certain immunomodulatory drugs (e.g. glucocorticoids) from the intracellular to the extracellular space. Increased expression of the MDR1 protein in lymphocytes may therefore lead to undesirable reduction of lymphocytic concentration of these drugs. The aim of the study was to assess the systemic effect of asthma on the expression of the MDR1 protein in lymphocytes. The expression of MDR1 in peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs) was determined by a flow cytometry analysis with indirect immunofluorescence staining technique amongst 20 children (aged from 1.85 to 16.38 years) with newly diagnosed, mild persistent asthma (prior therapy) and amongst 30 healthy children (aged from 0.15 to 17.08 years). There was a significantly lower PBLs MDR1 expression (median MDR1 expression, p { 0.02) and a significantly lower proportion of the population of MDR1-positive PBLs as well (percentage of MDR1-postitive PBLs, p { 5.39.10-3)
