Immune response to sublingually delivered recombinant antigens in experimental mice
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The oromucosal route of administration is a route for vaccine delivery alternative to parenteral invasive routes such as intramuscular, subcutaneous or intradermal ones. It offers possibility to induce both mucosal and systemic responses without potential to induce mucosal tolerance. Sublingual vaccination does not require strictly sterile vaccine application conditions, and, in contrast to other mucosally effective intranasal route, it does not elicit rare but severe toxic side effects caused by penetration of antigen and adjuvants across olfactory epithelium, leading to damage to olfactory nerves or Bell´s palsy.Using experimental mice model, several recombinant proteins and inactive virus vaccine were tested for elicitation of mucosal and systemic responses after sublingual drop wise, sublingual patch, and parenteral administrations.Sublingual patches immunization induces both mucosal and systemic responses of various intensities dependent on antigen nature and adjuvant usage. No side effects were observed in any experimental animals.
