Jahrhundert. 37 Quellen zur jüdischen Geschichte auf Hebräisch, Jiddisch, Judendeutsch und Judenspanisch, versehen mit historischen Einleitungen und Anmerkungen, geben eine repräsentativen Überblick über das breite Spektrum von Textsorten und veranschaulichen die kontextspezifische Verwendung der einzelnen jüdischen Sprachen.

The volume provides an introduction into Jewish paleography from the 16th through the beginnings of the 20th century in the territory of the Holy Roman Empire. 37 documents in Hebrew, Yiddish, Judeo-German and Judeo-Spanish with historical introductionsand explanations exemplify the large array of Jewish text production as well as the usage of specific languages for different purposes.
