Svazek se skládá ze tří částí: První se zabývá pražskou estetikou v letech 1805-1848 z institucionálního hlediskana základě analýzy seznamů přednášek. Druhá část se zabývá následujícími pražskými profesory estetiky: Joseph Georg Meinert (1773-1844), Johann Heinrich Dambeck (1774-1820) a Anton Müller (1792-1843). Třetí se věnuje výzkumu recepce německé romantické a britské estetiky.

The volume has three parts. Part 1 considers Prague aesthetics from 1805 to 1848 from the institutional point of view on the basis of an analysis of lecture lists, Austrian national curricula, and government rules and regulations about the content of philosophy courses. The second part of the volume focuses on individual Prague professors of aesthetics, particularly Joseph Georg Meinert (1773-1844), Johann Heinrich Dambeck (1774-1820), and Anton Müller (1792-1843). To be able to place the scanty knowledge of Meinert's, Dambeck's, and Müller's lectures in aesthetics on a firmer basis, all the known sources of the lectures are summarized in the introduction, and then their contents are reconstructed. These heuristic chapters are followed by chapters that put the individual Prague theories into the larger picture of the history of aesthetics as developed elsewhere in Europe, particularly in the German countries. These largely comparative interpretations, based on the most important lecture topics, reveal the nature of the ideas of the presented systems of aesthetics, including the key terms and concepts. The third part presents research on the reception of the German Romantics and British aesthetics. The book concludes with a more general interpretation based on bringing together information discovered in official documents and lecture series that were actually held, the aim of which is to put early aesthetics taught at Prague University into the context both of aesthetics taught at Austrian universities and of the Czech national awakening, including the formulation of the most urgent tasks of further research.
