El personaje de historiador, profesor de la Universidad Carolina y diplomático Vlastimil Kybal es bien conocido en los círculos checos interesados en el territorio Iberoamericano. Especialmente gracias a su presencia y actuación cómo ministro en España, Brasil (y Argentina) y México. Por otro lado todavía existen episodios de su vida cubiertos en misterio. Por estos motivos el contenido de la contribución es el viaje del ministro checoslovaco Kybal a algunos estados de la América Central que realizó entre el 17 de abril y el 17 de mayo 1936. Aunque se trató de estados relativamente pequeños tenían una gran importancia para el país centroeuropeo también gracias las relaciones agravadas entre Checoslovaquia y Alemania. De esos asuntos se derivaron los objetivos del viaje ante todo los problemas con suministros del café y la situación en la colonia de sus compatriotas. El artículo es basado sobre todo en material archivístico del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores checo y en legado del ministro Kybal de la universidad Stanford en California.

The personality of historian, professor of the Carolina University and diplomat Vlastimil Kybal is well known in the Czech circles interested in the Ibero-American territory. Especially thanks to his presence and performance as a minister in Spain, Brazil (and Argentina) and Mexico. On the other hand there are still episodes of his life covered in mystery. For these reasons, the content of the paper is the trip of the Czechoslovak minister Kybal to some Central American states that he made between April 17 and May 17, 1936. Although these were relatively small states, they were of great importance to the Central European country also thanks to the aggravated relations between Czechoslovakia and Germany. From these issues were derived the objectives of the trip, especially the problems with supplies of coffee and the situation in the colony of his compatriots. The ppaper is based mainly on archival material of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs and on the legacy of Minister Kybal of Stanford University in California.
