Questo articolo si occupa della rilevanza della Regula non bullata all&apos;interno dei Commenti alla Regola francescana scritti nei secoli XIV e XV. Questa analisi mostra come il posto della Regola primitiva dei frati minori cambiò a seconda del ruolo che i diversi commentatori attribuirono a Francesco d&apos;Assisi. Nel commento di Bartolomeo da Pisa, l&apos;Assisiate perse il suo ruolo di auctoritas nell&apos;interpretazione della Regola - ruolo che ricopriva ancora nei commenti di Ugo da Digne, Angelo Clareno e in quello conservato nel manoscritto di Sankt Florian, Stiftsbibliothek, XI 148 - in favore di testi diversi, come le dichiarazioni dei Papi e altri commenti della Regola scritti nei secoli XIII e XIV. Durante il XIV secolo, l&apos;Osservanza more italico adottò pienamente questa concezione della Regola e Francesco cessò di essere visto come un punto di riferimento per normare la vita dei frati e per interpretare la Regola: la Regula non bullata non ebbe più posto nei commenti. Solo in diverse riforme osservanti, come quella villacreciana, che rifiutarono il canone interpretativo dell&apos;Osservanza italiana, Francesco sembrò recuperare il suo ruolo di auctoritas.

This paper deals with the relevance of the Regula non Bullata within the Commentaries of Franciscan Rule written in the XIV and XV centuries. This analysis shows how the place of the Early Rule of the Minor Friars changed according to the role that different commentators attributed to Saint Francis. In the commentary of Bartholomew of Pisa, Saint Francis lost his role of auctoritas in interpreting the Rule – a role he still had in the commentaries of Hugh of Digne, Angelo Clareno and in the one preserved in the Sankt Florian manuscript, Stiftsbibliothek, XI 148 – in favour of different texts, such as the declarations of the Popes and other commentaries of the Rule written in the XIII and XIV centuries. During the fourteenth century, the more italico Observance fully adopted this conception of the Rule and Saint Francis ceased to be seen as a point of reference to norm the life of the friars and to interpret the Rule: the Regula non Bullata had no place in commentaries anymore. Only in different observant reforms, like the Villacrecian one, who refused the interpretative canon of more italico Observance, Francis seemed to regain his role as an auctoritas.
