Autor befasst sich im Buch hauptsächlich mit der Bauplastik und Grabmäler der Spätgotik und Renaissance im mährischen, sowie im österreichischen Teil des Thayatals an der Grenze zwischen Südmähren und Niederösterreich. Im Rahmen von Bauplastik wird die Aufmerksamkeit vor allem den Portalen, Fenstergewänden, Sakramentshäuschen und Bildstöcken gewidmet. Angesichts dazu dass das Thayatal ein internationales Gebiet darstellt, erforscht Autor im Buch die gegenseitigen künstlerischen Einflüsse zwischen wichtigen mährischen und niederösterreichischen Kunstzentren (Wien, Krems, Eggenburg, Znojmo, Brno u.a.). Bei der Analyse der Kunstdenkmäler wird auch der Einfluss des zuständigen Auftraggebers berücksichtgt (seine Ausbildung, politische, ökonomische und kulturelle Kontakte).

Author pays his attention in the book especially to late Gothic and early Rennaissance architectural sculpture and tombstones in Moravian and Austrian part of river Dyje valley, situated on the state border between southern Moravia and Lower Austria. In the frame of architectural sculpture he pays attention mainly to portals, windows jambs, sacrament houses and wayside shrines. Considering the fact, that river Dyje valley is international region, author makes also the research of mutual artistic influences between important artistic centres in Lower Austria and in Moravia (Vienna, Krems, Eggenburg, Znojmo, Brno etc.). By the analysis of artworks is researched also the influence of the client of artwork: his education, political, economical, political and cultural contacts.
