Seit den 1990er Jahren ist eine Wiedergeburt des Barocks bzw. barocker Elemente in der zeitgenössischen Kunst zu beobachten. In diesem Zusammenhang wurde – oft recht unreflektiert – von einem Neobarock gesprochen, der oft gleichwertig mit dem Begriff der Postmoderne gebraucht wurde.Das Zeil der Konferenz war es, sich intensiver mit dem Barock/en zu beschäftigen und zu hinterfragen, in welchen Formen er sich manifestierte, welche Neuerungen er sprachlich und künstlerisch brachte und inwieweit man tatsächlich (und legitim) von barocken Kontinuitäten in der zeitgenössischen Literatur sprechen kann. Darüber hinaus wurden im Rahmen dieser allgemeineren Diskussionen auch Querverbindungen zum schlesischen Barock und dessen Beitrag zum deutschsprachigen Barock diskutiert.

Since the 1990s, a rebirth of Baroque or Baroque elements has been observed in contemporary art. In this context, there has been talk - often without much reflection - of a neo-baroque, which has often been used on a par with the term postmodernism.The aim of the conference was to take a closer look at the Baroque and to scrutinise the forms in which it manifested itself, what innovations it brought linguistically and artistically and to what extent one can actually (and legitimately) speak of Baroque continuities in contemporary literature. In addition, cross-connections to the Silesian Baroque and its contribution to the German-speaking Baroque were also discussed in the context of these more general discussions.
