Lo studio parte dal presupposto che Lutero non ha voluto rinegare l’importanza dell’ontologia per la teologia, ma piuttosto regolare il significato e l’utilizzo delle categorie e dei principali concetti/termini on-tologici nella prospettiva del novum della Rivelazione di Dio in Gesù Cristo. Prendendo in esame alcuni brani delle sue lezioni ai Romani (1515-1516), si mette in luce la presenza di alcuni significativi “segnali ontologici” del pensiero del Riformatore, in particolare quelli che intendono esprimere l’essere del credente con i concetti “sostutuzione delle forme”, „creatio ex nihilo“, ecc. Lo studio mostra che Lutero adopera tali concetti in chiave relazionale, considerando essenziale per la comprensione dell’essere della persona la relazione tra il Creatore unitrino e la Sua creatura, una relazione che da una parte è già data – e ontologicamente mai sarà interrotta – tramite ogni singolo atto di creazione (ossia con la nascita di ogni essere umano), dall’altra è in via di attuazione tramite il dono della fede in Cristo, intesa come relazione di fiduciosa accettazione della volontà di comunione del Creatore unitrino.

The study starts from the assumption that Luther did not want to deny the importance of ontology for theology, but rather to regulate the meaning and use of the categories and main ontological concepts/terms in the perspective of the novum of God’s Revelation in Jesus Christ. By examining some passages of his Lectures on Romans (1515-1516), the study presents the presence of some significant “ontological highlights” of the reformer’s thought, in particular those that intend to express the being of the believer with concepts like “Exchange of Forms,” creatio ex nihilo, etc. Furthermore, it shows that Luther understands these concepts in a relational key, that is, he considers the relationship between the triune Creator and His creature as absolutely essential for the understanding of the person’s being; a relationship that on the one hand is already given – and ontologically will never be interrupted – through every single act of creation (i.e. with the birth of every human being), and on the other hand is being implemented through the gift of faith in Christ, understood as a relationship of trusting acceptance of the triune Creator’s will of communion.
