Název v původním jazyce
Differences in relative DNA content of Lactuca serriola germplasm collected in Europe.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Lactuca serriola L. (prickly lettuce) is considered to be a direct progenitor of cultivated lettuce (L. sativa) and has been frequently used in lettuce breeding (Lebeda et al., 2004). Prickly lettuce is quite variable from the viewpoint of ecogeography, morphology, and genetic and molecular features (Lebeda et al., 2001), however data concerning possible variation in DNA content are rather limited (Doležalová et al., 2002).Five plants of each of 99 L. serriola accessions originating from 12 European countries, Austria (4 accessions), Czech Republic (24), France (19), Germany (14), Greece (2), Italy (11), the Netherlands (1), Slovak Republic (6), Slovenia (5), Sweden (4), Switzerland (5) and United Kingdom (4), were analysed for their relative nuclear DNA contents using flow cytometry (DAPI staining; Doležalová et al., 2002). Data on 2C relative DNA contents showed significant variation among individual L. serriola accessions. In the studied set, a mean of 2C DNA contents ranged from 4.
