Variation in wild pathosystem (Lactuca serriola - Bremia lactucae) and its significance for lettuce resistance breeding and growing
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Virulence variation of the Czech natural populations of B. lactucae was evaluated. Generally, v-factors matching resistance found only in L. serriola were most frequent. However, differences were found for the presence of individual v-factors among the surveyed populations and also among isolates originating from the same population. Comparison of these data with the crop pathosystem (L. sativa) showed substantial differences in the virulence structure.Until now there has been no data available on the distribution of race-specific resistance in natural populations of L. serriola. Some European populations (Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom) of L. serriola were investigated for their resistance to B. lactucae. Generally the samples were highly susceptible, however large differences were found in the resistance of L. serriola populations occurring in different countries. Furthermore, intra-population variation in the response to B. lactucae was recorded for some popula
