The authors of this paper implemented a research at the Pedagogical Faculty of the Palacky University in Olomouc, investigating the opinions of the graduates of natural history pedagogy on the importance of the didactics of biology and environmental education during their undergraduate university studies. The research results pointed out the existing deficiencies in undergraduate training of future teachers of natural history and the lecturers of environmental education. The research results have also brought forward ideas for designing the ENVIRUP project, which was primarily focused on innovations in field didactics and environmental education. A part of the ENVIRUP project was the creation of the so-called Virtual Library of Litovelské Pomoraví. This protected landscape area is located near Olomouc and it, therefore, serves as a destination for science excursions of university students from Olomouc as well as a study area where students of natural history and environmental education
