The role of school principals in implementing inclusive education in the Czech Republic
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The development of inclusion and inclusive practice in the Czech Republic is largely unknown outside the country. Like many other European countries, however, the Czech Republic purports to be moving towards a more inclusive educational system. This research specifically looks at the role of the school leader in developing inclusive attitudes and practices towards students with SEN in this central European country. Two questionnaires were used to determine the attitudes of school principals towards students with SEN and b) the inclusive practices adopted by school principals to support the development of inclusive education. Findings indicate that school principals attitudes towards the inclusion of students with SEN is more positive than previously thought, and that inclusive practices are staff centred and mostly school based. One of the key approaches to developing inclusive practices reported in international literature is the development of partnerships with University departments
