GRAMMAR SCHOOL STUDENTS AND THEIR TYPOLOGY ACCORDING TO DEPENDENCE ON COMPUTER GAMES
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The paper describes partial results of a research study, which examined the degree of dependence of 18-year-old grammar school students on computer games. In the research we used a quantitative research strategy with an own questionnaire to identify the degree of addictive behaviour in students in relation to computer games. The research sample consisted of 372 students in grade three of four-year grammar schools (or an equivalent grade of multi-year grammar schools) from 7 randomly selected schools. The aim of the subsequent statistical analysis was to identify possible groups of 18-year-old pupils according to their addictive behaviour. In the research we used the following result processing methods: K-means cluster analysis and globalized cluster analysis, Student's t-test and analysis of variance ANOVA; the analysis of nominal data was performed by means of the Chi-square test of independence. The results of the research study suggest that grammar school students are divided into two groups of almost identical size according to their approach to computer games. Besides other things, these groups show a completely different degree of dependence on computer games. The paper was supported by project IGA_PdF_2016_028 "Identification of risks of social networks and computer games for children depending on their preferred use of information and communication technologies".
